For started, there is no conclusive study to indicate that artificial sweeteners such as sucralose, saccharin and aspartem are directly linked with weight loss. Of course, if you cut down on your daily intake of sugar, you will start noticing positive changes in your body and mind. However, replacing sugar with a sweetener will not have the same effect. Plus, they can have adverse effects on your body.

What harm can artificial sweeteners cause?

Most of these are made from synthetic substance, except the ones made from leaves of the naturally occurring stevia plant. They are used in a lot of products ranging from carbonated drinks to cough drops and even yogurt. The synthetic sweeteners often interfere with normal metabolism of your body. This happens because they interfere with the body’s natural response to regulate glucose homeostasis. Changes in metabolism can lead stomachaches and abdominal problems. If you want to lose weight, it is best to remove sugar altogether from your diet. Make sure you eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Avoid junk food, processed food and anything that can further add to your calories.
