As a Bong living out of my homeland, I am often asked a few annoying stereotypical questions. “Do you sing Rabindrasangeet?” “Do you eat rice three times a day?” “Do you put aloo (potato) in everything?” Since I’ve never identified myself as a hard core Bengali, my answer to most of these questions is a blatant “no”. Except for one question. “Do you eat fish every day?” Maybe I don’t eat fish every day, but I sure crave for it every now and then. Fish is usually a staple part of the diet in any Bengali household. It is only natural then for us to come up with a variety of Bengali fish recipes.
