They say – never make decisions in haste. I say, some decisions are best taken in haste.

Once such decision taken in 10 minutes proved to be one of the best of my life’s experience – The YHAI mountain biking trek to Jalori Pass in April 2014.

The biking expedition to Jalori Pass, organized by YHAI (Youth Hostel Association of India) which is situated at an altitude of 10,350 feet, certainly propelled me to take this challenge head on. Mountain biking is something very different from your usual cycling and hence, I did listen to the call of my heart.

However, to make the trip more exciting especially after spending on travel to Delhi, we friends decided to visit our Capital – New Delhi for a day and to make the journey interesting, travel to the Base Camp – Banala, Kullu via Chandigarh by train.

Apart from the heat, sweat and dust, New Delhi offered us foodies a great treat for our tummies. From the Parathas and the kulhad lassi in Parathewale Galli, Chandini Chowk, to the Goli Soda by the street, from the super delicious kebabs at Karim’s (opp Jama Masjid) to the Mooli pakodas and Candy ice creams at India Gate and finally the Chole Bature and Lassi (again!) at Bikanerwala – Our tummies wished there was place for more!

The stay in New Delhi was in the YHAI hostel located in Chanakyapuri, which is one of the prime locations in New Delhi with all the Embassies and Government officials offices / residents close by.
